Bells 20x16 acrylic on canvas by Yana Slutskaya

Have you ever imagined how sounds and music would look on canvas? In this painting I tried to visualize how the glorious sounds of Russian Church Bells would appear as color and shapes. In fact, quite a few scientists have also captured visual representations of sound waves using a variety of methods. I was amazed to discover how church bells ringing would look on a membrane covered with fine sand. The beautiful geometrical shapes of stars and circles appear. In my painting I tried to incorporate these scientific graphs with my personal feelings of color and rhythm. Every time I hear the music of bells, my heart is fulfilled with solemn joy and love.
